HeartSafe® City

Dear Friends,

There are defining moments in everyone’s life when you can make a difference. One never knows when a medical emergency will occur and you will have the opportunity to perform a life saving intervention for another person. The EMS Foundation believes every member of our community is potentially a first responder and supports CPR training for everyone. The power is truly in your hands to make a difference.

In supporting a HeartSafe® City, the EMS Foundation promotes the latest standards in CPR training, and the proper use and placement of Public Access Defibrillators (PAD). The power to save a life is truly in your hands. Help us make Calgary a HeartSafe® City by:

  • Taking a CPR course for the first time, or to learn the latest standards.
  • Encouraging your family, friends and co-workers to take a CPR course.
  • Providing a corporate donation towards the purchase or upgrade of a defibrillator, enhancing the protection of our community.

Every minute that a Calgarian experiences cardiac arrest, his or her chances of survival decreases by 10 per cent. The swift intervention of a CPR trained bystander with access to a defibrillator will improve chances of survival while paramedics are en route.

The power to save a life is in your hands. Please join the EMS Foundation in building a HeartSafe® City by taking a CPR course for the first time, learning the newest CPR standards, or making a corporate donation. Please contact the EMS Foundation office at 403-955-9550 for more information.

Sooner or later, it’s about you or me or someone we care about.
